Privacy Policy

This website, kenarnotu.com, is operated by MEI Global Ltd, trading as Meaning & Existence Institute, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17097701) with its registered office at 4 Raven Road, Unit 1C3-1106, London, United Kingdom. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit the site or subscribe to our newsletter, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have. It is written to meet the requirements of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) for visitors in the European Economic Area, and the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) for visitors in Türkiye.

The short version: we do not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers; we collect personal data only if you choose to give it to us (by subscribing to the newsletter or writing to us by e-mail); and we never sell or share it for marketing.

1. Controller and contact

The data controller is MEI Global Ltd, 4 Raven Road, Unit 1C3-1106, London, United Kingdom. For any question about this policy or your data, write to iletisim@kenarnotu.com. We are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer; the founder, Abdullah Özer, is responsible for data protection matters.

2. What we collect and why

Newsletter (“Salı Mektupları” / “Dienstagsbriefe”). If you subscribe, we collect your first name, surname and e-mail address. We use them solely to send you the weekly essay and occasional announcements about books and events. The legal basis is your consent (UK GDPR / GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you give by submitting the form and which you may withdraw at any time by e-mail. The form is processed by FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), a third-party service that forwards the submitted data to our mailbox; FormSubmit acts as our processor and does not use the data for its own purposes. The submission is delivered to and stored in the mailbox info@psikosentez.com, which is operated by the same controller. You will not receive anything other than the newsletter and the announcements described here.

E-mail correspondence. If you write to us, we keep your e-mail and our reply for as long as needed to deal with your request and, where a professional relationship follows (editing, training, book orders), for the duration of that relationship and any statutory retention period. The legal basis is the performance of a contract or steps prior to a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f)).

Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical data when you load a page: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, browser and operating system. These logs exist for security and fault diagnosis (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f)); they are not combined with other data and are deleted automatically according to the provider’s retention schedule, normally within a few weeks.

Fonts. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. When a page is displayed, your browser requests the font files from Google’s servers, which involves transmitting your IP address to Google LLC (USA). Google states that these requests are not linked to Google accounts and are not used for profiling. If you prefer to avoid this transfer, you can block third-party fonts in your browser; the site remains fully readable with your system’s fonts.

Cookies and analytics. This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or social-media tracking tools. We do not build visitor profiles.

External links. The site links to other websites (publishers, bookshops, our related sites). Their privacy practices are their own; please read their policies when you visit them.

3. Retention

Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe; after that it is deleted within thirty days. Correspondence is kept for the periods described above and in any case no longer than six years where UK company or tax law requires it. Server logs are deleted by the hosting provider on a rolling basis.

4. Recipients and international transfers

Your data is seen only by the controller and the processors named in this policy (the hosting provider, the e-mail provider, FormSubmit and Google Fonts). Where a processor is located outside the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, transfers rely on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision, as applicable. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

5. Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. To exercise any of these rights, write to iletisim@kenarnotu.com; we answer within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in the United Kingdom the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk); in the EEA the authority of the member state where you live; in Türkiye the Kişisel Verileri Koruma Kurumu (kvkk.gov.tr).

6. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Newsletter data and correspondence are stored in password-protected mailboxes with two-factor authentication. No method of transmission over the internet is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security; we do apply the measures a small organisation can reasonably be expected to apply.

7. Children

The site is not directed at children under sixteen, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has subscribed to the newsletter, write to us and we will delete the record.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site or the law changes. The date of the current version is shown below; material changes will be announced on this page.

Version dated 14 September 2026. This policy is provided in English as the governing text; Turkish and German summaries on the site are for convenience only.
